Training with the Alexander Technique
Dental practice implies a high degree of precision and control while working, requiring a professional with attention, focus, patience and high physical and mental endurance.
OPTIMAL DENTAL POSTURE presents an effective training program based on the Alexander Technique and addressed at dental professionals to improve and prevent musculoskeletal disorders.
WHO IS THIS FOR? WHY?
There are a good number of international research studies showing the high incidence of MSDs (musculoskeletal disorders) and stress amongst dental professionals (odontologists, stomatologists, hygienists, implant specialists, orthodontists, periodontists, assistants…)
According to that research, chronic pain and stress influence length of career, productivity, and quality of life.
As time goes by, many professionals will have to reduce their working hours and decide whether they need to change profession or retire earlier than usual.
HOW?
The goal of this training is to offer participants the right tools to prevent MSDs through an innovative perspective on the problem.
Both the group and individual sessions are eminently practical, giving participants a theoretical foundation but above all, basic practical knowledge and hands-on learning that will result in a better use of posture, which is key to improving and preventing the musculoskeletal disorders linked to their profession.
“What you do as a habit and are not able to stop is because it controls you, it makes you dependant and a slave. Only what emerges and is decided from the inside is genuine and makes you free.”

Dental ergonomics: “internal ergonomics” vs “external ergonomics”

Biomechanics of human posture
In order to address the prevention of MSDs caused by forced postures, we need to have a clear understanding and global vision of human biomechanical design understood as a total active system. There are some basic principles of biomechanical design that rule posture...
